tonypi Beautiful roots music, keeping a culture alive.

A kind of acoustic 'desert blues'.

A joyous display of simplicity and infectious grooves. Favorite track: Fatoumata.

about

Sahel Roots is a young band of two musicians from Bamako whose roots lie further north, in the Sahel region and in the desert.
The music of Alassane Samaké and Adama Sidibé interprets and fusions Songhai and Peulh folklore.
'Diarka', the name of the small violin used in the inner Niger delta area, is their first EP.
Through their hypnotic melodies and the ancestral sound of the instruments, Sahel Roots takes us into the essential and transcendent dimension of everyday life in Mali.
